The Story

Physical Literacy Gap Identified

Based on our profile in the allied health care sector, we were called to provide solutions for the delivery of physical education in schools.

  • Derived from research, we created two tools to support the activation of physical literacy: a healthy habits tracker & a fundamental movement skills tracker.
  • The idea: harness technology to meet people (kids) where they were with professional content and expertise. We self-funded the digital delivery platform.
  • At the same time, Nike completed their 45M global Designed to Move study, identifying 7 filters for success. We were recognized as the only organization that met the 7 filters requirements.
  • Nike contacted and invited us to be a participating organization in their Designed to Move initiative. The problem was, there was no activation leadership.

Global Market Validation of The Solution

We expanded globally:

  • The 60MinuteKidsclub program scaled to English-speaking schools across 8 countries off the side of the desk. The Fundamental Movement Skills (FMS) were downloaded in over 150 countries.
  • We received numerous requests from universities around the world to license the FMS to instruct teachers ‘how to’ assess movement skill development and quantify Physical Education.
  • The program was white-labeled for a Norwegian pilot and has since been indigenized as the Warriors of Wellness for the Indigenous Parks & Recreation Council in British Columbia, Canada.

Documenting the Story in Schools

We began to document the story to share with others what was really going on:

  • Based on the success of the program, we became globally recognized as experts in the activation of physical literacy.
  • We produced our first documentary No Running which explored the state of physical education from a global perspective. It has been featured in film festivals such as the Lithuanian Olympic Federation.

Documenting the Story in Sports

  • Based on the success of No Running we were asked to speak to the youth sports crisis: decrease in participation, infrastructure & leadership by local, provincial, and national executive directors.
  • We filmed and released our 2nd documentary: The Cost of Winning. A global perspective on the gaps and opportunity for quality sport experiences. We shared it with the world.
  • There are 8 reasons for the decline of participation: lack of free play, lack of fundamental movement skills proficiency, marginalization of physical education, lack of quality coaching, early sport specialization, technology, no fun, and cost – all solvable through trusted direct to consumer products, content, and expertise.
  • We were tapped by the USOPC to create their American Development Model Activation & Accountability Framework and presented it to 28 National Governing Bodies (NGB) in Colorado.
  • The message from them was clear in that they wanted to support and leadership for their member organizations across the country.
  • We operationalized the 5C’s of athlete development, created the Quality Sport Hub to curate best practices and created an operating system for quality sport.
  • We also created the Personal Sport Record: A platform designed to support and track development that is owned and controlled by the athlete with a revenue share model with the clubs.

International Consultation

We connected and began to work with international organizations:

  • We met with Olympic Federations and staff in Switzerland, Austria, Lichtenstein, Italy, and Norway to listen to their concerns and share our findings.
  • Lichtenstein has requested a supported pathway from physical education to high performance [digitizing the fundamental sport skills of skiing].

The Operating System’s First Followers

Organizations have engaged us to implement the Operating System within their organization:

  • We licensed the sport operating system to Canada Soccer and were hired to help rebuild the PGA of America’s athlete, coach, and club development pathway.
  • With Canada Soccer: support clubs across the country with their operating process.
  • With PGA of America: support the development from FMS’s to Fundamental Sport Skills and coach pathway.
  • We have connected with consultants of Concacaf, FIFA, and tiger IOC who are all pushing for holistic athlete development without an activation strategy.
